President Donald Trump appeared pleased to learn Sunday that actress Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, saying “I’m glad you told me that” to the reporter asking about the news as he was about to board Air Force One.
Sweeney’s ad for American Eagle triggered left wing rage online recently to an shocking degree, and after several days of media coverage on the supposed controversy it was reported over the weekend that the popular star is a registered Republican.
American Eagle has continued to stand by the ad and its star throughout the burst of hysterics.
Some on the right cheered the news about Sweeney’s Republican registration over the weekend.
While on the left the reaction was more outrage.
As Trump was preparing to board Air Force One to return to D.C. on Sunday, he was asked about the news and expressed his delight.
“Oh, now I love her ad!” Trump joked. “Is that right? Is Sydney Sweeney? You’d be surprised at how many people are Republicans. That’s one I wouldn’t have known, but I’m glad you told me that.”
“If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic,” Trump joked again as he wrapped up.
In a very different video related to Trump that also went viral over the weekend, a man was ejected from a Major League Soccer game for wearing a MAGA hat to watch the St. Louis City FC.
REPORTER: Actress Sydney Sweeney, it came out this weekend that she was a registered Republican. Any thoughts on that?
TRUMP: That who was?
REPORTER: Sydney Sweeney. She’s a very hot actress right now.
Speaker 2: She’s a registered Republican?
REPORTER: Yes.
