WATCH LIVE: President Trump Unveils National Security Strategy

President Donald Trump is set to deliver remarks on national security today at 2 p.m. EST. It has been reported the president will be unveiling his “America First” series of policy proposals, which are outlined in a document released by the White House.

Officials previewed the talk on Sunday, saying Trump is likely to stick to four man themes: protecting the homeland, promoting American prosperity, demonstrating peace through strength and advancing American influence in an ever-competitive world.

The remarks are expected to strike a more defiant tone than those delivered by past administrations, with a special emphasis to be put on national security concerns. As such, Russia, China and North Korea are expected to each get specific shout-outs.

According to documents obtained by PBS, the remarks will attempt to show competition as the driving force behind multi-national alliances, a theme that should be familiar to those who covered Trump’s 2016 campaign.

For instance, China, is expected to be referred to as a “strategic competitor.” Reforming the Middle East will also be referred to in economic terms, according to leaked documents.

“Some of our partners are working together to reject radical ideologies and key leaders are calling for a rejection of Islamist extremism and violence,” they said. “Encouraging political stability and sustainable prosperity would contribute to dampening the conditions that fuel sectarian grievances.”

The strategy will officially place Israel as a leader in the region, saying “for generations the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians has been understood as the prime irritant preventing peace and prosperity in the region. Today, the threats from radical jihadist terrorist organizations and the threat from Iran are creating the realization that Israel is not the cause of the region’s problems. States have increasingly found common interests with Israel in confronting common threats.”

Trump is also expected to further dismantle another piece of the Barack Obama administration, climate change.

Watch the remarks at 2 p.m. EST.
