The alleged stalker of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark made his first appearance in court Tuesday, and he immediately displayed unhinged behavior.

On Monday, 55-year-old Michael Lewis of Denton, Texas, was arrested and charged with felony stalking. A social media account connected to him sent Clark numerous threatening and “sexually violent” messages. When police tracked the IP address of the messages, they located Lewis at a hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana. There, Lewis told police he was in an “imaginary relationship” with the star player. Even after the visit from police, the messages continued and Lewis was arrested days later.

When the 55-year-old appeared in court the day after his arrest, things got off to a downright bizarre start. When Lewis entered the courtroom, he sat down, leaned all the way back, and said, “Guilty as charged!”

“No!” the judge quickly responded. “Sir, this is initial hearing. We are not–… You have a right to remain silent, and I expect you to exercise that, OK? This is just telling you what the charges are.”

As Lewis tried to cut her off, she fired back, “Listen, I’ll give you a chance to talk. Not your time!”

Lewis, however, wouldn’t let up.

“Throw me the bookie!” he yelled.

Again, the judge demanded him to stop talking.
