‘I Should Be Boycotting Bud Light!’ Tucker Carlson Confronts Dana White About UFC’s $100M+ Deal With Polarizing Beer Brand
UFC President Dana White has stood firm on his decision to partner with Bud Light, claiming the polarizing beer brand is misunderstood by its critics.
White announced in October that Bud Light would be returning as the official beer of the mixed martial arts promotion. Valued at more than $100 million, it’s the UFC’s largest sponsorship deal to date.
The decision came as Bud Light was under intense scrutiny for partnering with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney. In a statement, White stated the UFC and Bud Light were “aligned when it comes to our core values.”
On Monday’s episode of The Tucker Carlson Interview, White reiterated that message.
“If you consider yourself a patriot, you should be drinking gallons of Bud Light,” White told Carlson. “Believe me when I tell you.”
Carlson was stunned by the idea.
“Wait, I should be boycotting Bud Light!” Carlson said in reference to the growing movement to end support for the brand.
White was undeterred.
“Gallons of Bud Light,” White repeated. “You should have Bud Light drums stacked up in your garage and drinking it right out of the keg.
“They are way more aligned with you than most of these other beer companies are. That I guarantee you. Take it from somebody who’s in the know, who does business with beer companies. You are way more aligned with Bud Light than you are with any other beer company.”
While White admitted there has been pushback for the decision, he hasn’t been discouraged by it.
“I know who I am,” White said. “I know what I stand for. I know what I believe in, and the people who are close to me know. And I’m on the right side of this. Believe me when I tell you.”
