NFL Network Lampoons Aaron Rodgers After Report That RFK Jr. Is Considering Him as VP: ‘As Long as He’s Not Surgeon General!’

NFL Network anchor Andrew Siciliano and his poked fun at Aaron Rodgers’ views on medicine after reports that he’s being considered as Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate.

On Tuesday evening, the New York Times reported that Rodgers was on a shortlist of Kennedy’s VP candidates. That list also includes former WWE superstar and governor of Minnesota Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

About 20 minutes after that report came out, it became the topic of discussion on NFL Network’s Free Agency Frenzy when reporter Tom Pelissero felt compelled to bring it up.

“Once again, Andrew, I will apologize on behalf of all of us for this performance,” Pelissero said. “The communication over the course of the segment — it was probably because right before we came on, I was reading a story about Aaron Rodgers potentially becoming vice president.

“The good news: elections are on a Tuesday. That’s normally players’ day off, so he’d be available to watch the results roll in.”

Pelissero mentioning Rodgers’ name immediately got reactions from the panel. Reporter Mike Garafolo simply lowered his head and put his hand over his face to cover his laughter, while insider Ian Rapoport chuckled and Siciliano nervously scratched his brow with a grin.

Then, Pelissero compared it to the time Ventura became governor.

“Jesse Ventura [was] elected Minnesota governor when I was a senior in high school and all my idiot 18-year-old friends were like, ‘Yeah, Jesse ‘The Body’! This is funny! Let’s vote for him!’ And he won. So don’t laugh! Don’t laugh at the idea of Aaron Rodgers as vice president.

“This is one of those ‘George Costanza driving to the Poconos’ moments where it’s like, ‘I’m really gonna go be vice president!’ Anything can happen, Andrew.”

Siciliano just one thing to say.

“As long as he’s not Surgeon General,” he said, causing Rapoport and Garafolo to burst into laughter.
