WATCH: Wild Brawl Erupts at Youth Basketball Game — Between THE REFS

A Colorado youth basketball game was temporarily halted over the weekend when the referees suddenly started fighting one another.

According to a TMZ report, the melee occurred during a fourth-grade boys game at the Gold Crown Field House in Lakewood, Colorado. The video begins with two of the refs sizing one another up in the middle of the game. One of the children can be seen looking at the altercation just a few feet away.

A third ref noticed the two about to fight and rushed over to break it up. A split second before he got there, however, one of the refs threw the first punch. As the third ref positioned himself between the two to split them up, he fell to the ground with the ref that was punched. Still standing, the ref that threw the punch was then taken to the ground by a pair of spectators — presumably parents.

The ref who was punched and the ref who attempted to break up the fight then stood up. Suddenly, those two squared up as if they were about to fight. Before any punches could be thrown, even more people rushed onto the courts from the bleachers to split the two up.

Lakewood Police told TMZ no arrests were made because the refs were already gone by the time officers arrived.

In a statement to TMZ, the Gold Crown Foundation said the refs had been suspended.

“We have informed these independently contracted officials that they are suspended indefinitely from working for Gold Crown Foundation,” the foundation said.

“Most importantly we apologize to everyone that had to witness their unacceptable behavior — especially the kids.”
