Bill Maher Dumbfounded At Republicans Showing Up To The Hush Money Trial ‘Dressed Like Trump’
Comedian and political pundit Bill Maher was dumbfounded by the fact that nearly a dozen Republican members of Congress showed up in Manhattan Friday for the hush money trial “dressed like Trump.”
Maher said, “So, I’ve been using the peppy little phrase ‘slow moving coup’ since before Trump got elected, and here’s the next phase that happened this week. I don’t know if you saw this in the paper or wherever you get your news, but the Republicans have been showing up at the trial dressed like Trump.”
As the audience laughed, Maher added, “I know. It’s all fun and games until it’s the law.”
He continued, “J.D. Vance was there, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tommy Tuberville, the head of the House Mike Johnson, Matt Gaetz. No wonder Trump falls asleep in the trial; he’s counting his sheep.”
Trump has been reportedly falling asleep since the beginning of the hush money trial, which is entering its third week. A gag order has prevented him from speaking ill of trial witnesses and family members of the court, so the Republicans on-hand Friday acted as his mouthpiece, denouncing the “sham” trial and Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter’s ties to the Democratic Party.
Maher added, “Lauren Boebert also showed up, but only because she heard one of the juries was hung.”
A House Oversight Committee hearing on whether to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress was put on hold Friday since so many Republicans members were in New York. They convened the hearing later that night, which led to a war of words between reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Jasmine Crockett (D-TX).
“Oh, speaking of cat fights, did you see what happened there — the House Oversight Committee had a hearing and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who’s Republican and white, got into it with Democrat Jasmine Crockett who’s Democratic and Black. And Jasmine Crockett said Marjorie Taylor Greene was a ‘bleach blonde bad built butch body.’ And, somewhere in a tree, one of the Keebler Elves said, ‘somebody just burned a cracker.'”
