AG Pam Bondi Denies Knowledge of Alleged Probe Into Former FBI Director: ‘Don’t Know Anything About That’

Attorney General Pam Bondi denied knowing anything about a reported FBI investigation into James Comey, a former director of the bureau.

President Donald Trump fired Comey in 2017 before the director’s 10-year term expired. Ultimately, Trump replaced him with Christopher Wray, who stepped down last month when it became clear Trump intended to replace him with Kash Patel, who is now the director.

On Tuesday, The Washington Times reported a whistleblower alleged that Comey ordered an “off-the-books” investigation in 2015 into Trump, then a presidential candidate.

“New leadership at the FBI is starting an investigation into the origins of the agency’s plan a decade ago to infiltrate the campaign of then-candidate Donald Trump using two female undercover ‘honeypot’ agents,” the publication said.

On Wednesday, Bondi appeared on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime, where she pleaded ignorance regarding the probe.

“We’re hearing reports that there was an investigation opened into James Comey, who may have thrown honeypots at Donald Trump back in the 2015, 2016 years,” Jesse Watters said. “Is that true?”

“Jesse, I don’t know anything about what you’re saying about James Comey right now,” Bondi responded. “Don’t know anything about that.”

“I’ll take it at that,” Watters said before moving on to another topic.

Trump has baselessly alleged that Comey spied on his 2016 presidential campaign at the behest of then-President Barack Obama.

“Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory,” Trump tweeted in March 2017. “Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”

Trump fired Comey two months later.
