During a press conference on Friday, the person responsible for the deadly mass shooting in Aurora, Illinois was identified as 45-year-old Gary Martin.
Aurora police chief Kristen Ziman began by saying that at this time, five people are confirmed dead.
“When they located the offender, they engaged in gunfire with him ultimately killing him,” she said. “The shooter is identified as Gary Martin.”
She added that the shooter “is a 45-year-old man and we believe he was an employee of the company. At this time, we are not sure of the motive of this act of violence.”
Five officers were injured in the shooting. Authorities have not released the names of five victims.
