Michele Bachmann: Bin Laden Capture Was Only A ‘Tactical’ Success

Minnesota congresswoman and former GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann appeared on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, where she told host Candy Crowley that President Barack Obama‘s greatest weakness is his approach to foreign policy — even if he does merit some credit for his handling of the mission to find and kill Osama bin Laden.

Bachmann felt the remaining GOP candidates are excellent, highly-qualified individuals who are “right on how to handle the economy,” whereas “President Obama has been a disaster.”

“And they understand foreign policy,” she continued. “Probably President Obama’s worst act as President has been on foreign policy. That hasn’t even begun to have the level of scrutiny that it needs to have.”

When Crowley noted that Obama would probably point to the capture of bin Laden as a success for his administration, Bachmann characterized it as a tactical rather than strategic success. “Of course,” she said, “but that’s a tactical success. But the strategic blunder is putting distance between the United States and Israel. That has a far incalculable level of detriment to the United States and our safety.”
