Bob Costas Gets Ugly While Criticizing MLB Pitcher’s Poor Performance

Going to have to agree with Deadspin’s headline here: “Holy Shit, Bob Costas.”

Chicago Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop had a weak showing in Friday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, giving up a game-tying home run and exiting with two runners on base. We’re not even halfway through the MLB season, but somehow announcer Bob Costas thought Strop’s blown save was one for the ages, worthy of one of the most bafflingly scathing remarks I think I’ve ever heard a baseball announcer say.

“Strop is on his way out, pointing towards the heaven,” Costas said. “We can only ask or wonder that he is asking some departed relative for forgiveness for this atrocious performance.”

Come to think of it, the headline should be more like “What the Fuck, Bob Costas?”
