BREAKING: The Three Released American Prisoners Arrive At Joint Base Andrews
The three American hostages who were held captive by North Korea are back on U.S. soil.
After days of speculation, it was confirmed on Wednesday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo flew to North Korea to speak with Kim Jong Un and to organize the release of Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song and Tony Kim.
The newly-released prisoners were welcomed by President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, Second Lady Karen Pence, and Secretary Pompeo. All of them boarded the plane to speak with the freed men.
Around 3AM, the men were greeted on the tarmac with cheers and a giant American flag.
President Trump and the freed Americans spoke briefly to the press.
When asked how it feels to be home, of the men said “it’s like a dream” and that they’re “very, very happy.”
“Frankly, we didn’t think this was going to happen,” President Trump added, noting his surprise of their release ahead of his meeting with Kim Jong Un.
Trump paid tribute to the family of the late Otto Warmbier, who passed away in 2017 shortly after he was released from North Korea.
He also joked about the best ratings at 3AM and knocked The New York Times over its recent reporting of Pompeo and how he went “missing.”
