Joe Rogan Believes Dem Socialists Are Coming From a ‘Good Place’ — But Their Plan Is ‘F*cking Nuts’
Joe Rogan weighed in on the rise of democratic socialism in the USA on his podcast on Wednesday, saying he believes young socialists have good intentions — but have no clue how terrible and impractical their plans are in reality.
“The idea comes from a good place. I know in their heart of hearts they think that they’re being kind and they think they’re doing the right thing. They really do,” Rogan said. “They think they’re being inclusive, they think they’re righting the wrongs of colonialism. And they think that this idea of democratic socialism is a really good idea, because there are some examples of socialist policies that do work, like the fire department.”
He then pivoted to saying where the ideology goes off the rails.
“The problem with enforcing any of this stuff that they don’t understand is it always comes down to power. You have to have massive authority, and usually guns, because you can’t just steal people’s money,” Rogan said. “They’re not going to let you. They’re not going to let you just come in and decide, ‘Hey, we devised a new tax where everybody who makes more than $500,000 a year, everything over that, you have to give 100% to the state.'”
Rogan continued from there, saying the government is already rotten enough. Making it even more powerful wouldn’t be wise, he said.
“The f*cking program that you have in place that takes the taxes and disseminates it is massively flawed and corrupt. It’s corrupt! It’s filled with waste. FILLLLED with waste,” he vented. “There’s scammers all over the place, you’ve got $24 billion missing in just the homeless [programs] in California, and then they veto the audits when everybody’s trying to find out [what happened]. So just saying, ‘More taxes is what we need’ is f*cking nuts!”
Rogan shared his take after a handful of socialists won Democratic primaries recently.
Two of those candidates in New York — Darializa Avila Chevalier (D) and Claire Valdez (D) — are card-carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America, just like NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D). The mayor backed both Chevalier and Valdez in their primaries.
Beyond its socialist economic agenda, the DSA website said it is against Trump’s “racist immigration policies” and America being allied with Israel, which it said has committed a “genocide” in Gaza.
Soon after the primaries, Trump sardonically congratulated Mamdani on getting “solid Communists” elected. His tone shifted a few days later, when he said the communists have started to make “their move” in the USA.
“The game is on,” Trump said.
Trump has ripped the socialists and socialism plenty of other times since then, including when he said communism is a “cancer” which must be dealt with ASAP during his Fourth of July address.
He issued a similar warning during a July speech in Georgia. Trump said it is really simple to understand: “With communism, everything turns to sh*t!”
