Chris Hayes Mocks Fox News’ Jesse Watters Over Mueller Coverage: ‘Coup In America?!’
Many people have noted that Fox News and Donald Trump seem to have a love affair of sorts. During Monday night’s episode of All In, Chris Hayes and his guests Michael Steele and Sam Seder dissected how Fox News is attempting to delegitimize the Mueller investigation.
Hayes began his monologue pointing specifically to Jesse Watters’ latest smear campaign in which Watters argues that there may be a coup in America, ending with “if that’s true.”
“If that’s true?” Hayes hit back at Watters mocking his assertion. “Then there’s like a question mark. Coup in America?! Not saying it — just asking a question.”
Hayes pointed out that it might not be Mueller who is in trouble of losing his job but rather Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. “It’s hard not to notice the crescendo building in the president’s favorite media outlets about Mueller,” Hayes said, referencing Fox News’ recent bashing.
Hayes questioned Steele about what might be in store if the Trump administration fired acting FBI chief Mueller. “They know the political consequences of firing Mueller is the nuclear option.”
“I don’t want to overstate the calculation here because I think it’s quite possible that Donald Trump wakes up in the morning and is like I’m going to do it today,” Seder said, chiming in about how unpredictable the current president is.
