Chris Sununu Openly Mocks Fox’s Harris Faulkner Defending Trump’s Age In Spicy Interview: ‘We’ll Do Math Later’
New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (R) had at it with Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner in a dispute over Donald Trump’s age and the recent questions about whether he’s mentally fit to be president again.
Sununu, an ally to Trump’s primary rival, Nikki Haley, was on The Faulkner Focus on Tuesday to boost the former South Carolina governor ahead of the New Hampshire primary vote. The discussion turned to how Haley has been jabbing at Trump’s recent public gaffes, and Trump has been once again bragging about how he passed a cognitive test used to evaluate people for dementia.
Sununu laughed at Trump’s self-defense, commenting, “This is the guy that was blaming Nikki Haley for January 6th. He is off the teleprompter. This is not Donald Trump of 2016. If he is off the teleprompter, he can barely keep a cogent thought.” This led Sununu to say “this guy is nearly 80 years old,” to which Faulkner rebutted “he’s 77.”
“That’s nearly 80! We’ll do math later,” Sununu scoffed. Faulkner laughed, “you are so snarky,” while Sununu continued to say “you don’t need a couple of 80-year-olds.”
The interview went on with Sununu continuing to defend Haley’s viability despite the polls suggesting she’ll need a major upset to overcome Trump’s lead. At the end of the interview though, tensions flared when Faulkner told Sununu, “I wanna see you debate Donald Trump,” and he said “I would pay to do that if that coward would get on the stage with anybody.”
“No name-calling,” said Faulkner disapprovingly. “We don’t do the name-calling.”
“No! He’s a coward,” Sununu insisted, even as Faulkner quickly wrapped the show.
