Christian Bale Thanks Satan, Calls Dick Cheney and Mitch McConnell ‘Charisma-Free Assholes’ at Golden Globes

Christian Bale took home this year’s Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture and delivered a hilarious acceptance speech in which he thanked a special somebody for inspiring his role as Dick Cheney in Vice.

“Thank you to that geezer over there, Adam,” said Bale, accepting the award for playing the former vice president in Adam McKay‘s flick that has been revered and panned by critics in equal measure. “He said I got to find someone who can be absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everybody, so he went, ‘it’s got to be Bale in it.'”

“For all the competition, I will be cornering the market on charisma-free assholes,” Bale joked. “What do you think, Mitch McConnell next? That could be good.”

“Thank you to Satan for inspiration on how to play this role,” he added.
