Chuck Todd on Donald Trump’s Apology: ‘He Didn’t Even Apologize To His Own Wife’

Shortly after Donald Trump’s wife released a statement explaining that she found the GOP presidential nominee’s to be “offensive” but she accepted his apology, MSNBC held a bit of a roundtable discussion on the breaking news.

Meet the Press host Chuck Todd noted he could see what the campaign was doing for a strategy standpoint by pushing out a statement from Melania Trump that expressed anger but acceptance, noting that she’s the person who should be most appalled by Donald Trump’s actions.

However, he then went on to say that it actually highlights the fact that in his minute-and-a-half apology video, the Republican candidate didn’t actually say sorry to his own wife. He was only really apologizing for saying the words, not the sentiments behind them.

“It’s the action that he describes that he is yet to apologize for or answer for, and the Trump campaign has not dealt with,” the MSNBC anchor exclaimed. Following host Richard Lui’s remark about Trump not apologizing to Melania in his video, Todd shouted, “He didn’t even apologize to his own wife!”
