CNN Panel: Kellyanne Safe with ‘Cable Watcher’ Trump Who’s ‘All About What is Said on his Behalf’ on TV

CNN’s New Day had a lot to say on Thursday as they talked about the news that Kellyanne Conway is a frequent White House leaker who often trashes her colleagues behinds their backs.

Former Trump aide Cliff Sims has been getting a lot of attention lately over the revelations he offers in his upcoming book Team of Vipers: My 500 Extraordinary Days in the Trump White House. Even though Conway is disputing Sims’ anecdotes about her, the intrigue in his memoir reached a new level on Wednesday night when he described Conway as “cartoon villain” and a backstabber who’s mostly out for herself.

When John Berman asked about the “incredibly harsh” imagery Sims presents, Joshua Green called it a “shocking” look into how leaky the Trump White House is. When Alisyn Camerota asked how Conway has been able to survive in Trump’s orbit for so long if the story is true, Dana Bash answered that the relationship between the two is “special and different for a lot of reasons.”

“The most obvious is that she is the ultimate fighter. She goes out and she will fight with you and with you and with me and all of us for and about the President of the United States on Television. We can’t say enough he’s a cable watcher. He is all about what is said on his behalf on television. She does it, from his perspective, better than anybody.”

Krystal Ball agreed with Bash’s point, saying “if it doesn’t happen on cable news for this president, it doesn’t happen. No one is better than shamelessly spinning whatever happened than Kellyanne Conway.”

The panel went on by addressing Conway’s non-denial of Sims’ account, and by asking whether her strategy involves leaking to so many media figures that nobody ever suspects her while reporters try to maintain her as a source.
