CNN’s Kate Bolduan Asks Dem Gov About Kamala Harris VP Shortlist Being All ‘White Men’: ‘Does It Bother You?’

CNN’s Kate Bolduan asked New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) if it “bothered” her to look at Kamala Harris’s shortlist for a vice presidential candidate and only see white men.

Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is expected to announce her vice presidential pick soon, with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D), Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D), and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) all being on the consideration list.

After showing a graphic of the men, Bolduan pointed out their obvious similarities.

“One thing that is noteworthy that cannot be missed when we put up the screen of the shortlist, if you will, all of them… are white men, most of them are Democratic governors. You are a very prominent, very well respected Democratic governor yourself. Does it bother you that they’re all white men?” she asked.

Hochul dismissed talk of gender and insisted she took no offense to no women being in consideration.

“No, no, not at all because I don’t want to look at gender here. I really don’t think it’s fair because we have a lot of talented women governors, I text them all the time. The men are very talented so that’s the beauty of what we have here is we have a lot of talent,” the governor said.

Hochul praised all of the options and predicted a “fun” and “dynamic duo” to contrast with what she described as the “weird” Republican Party ticket, which is currently Donald Trump and JD Vance.

“I’m not going to take offense that she doesn’t pick a woman or a person who is from some particular state at all. Whoever she picks, it’s going to be a dynamic duo,” the governor said.
