CNN’s Van Jones: Kavanaugh ‘Not the Worst, But He’s the Best of a Horrible List’
CNN host and liberal pundit Van Jones called Judge Brett Kavanaugh, who was just chosen as President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court justice pick to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, the “best of a horrible list.”
Jones also noted that Kavanaugh, who was chosen over SCOTUS pick candadites Amy Barrett, Raymond Kethledge, Thomas Hardiman, and others, was “not the worst.”
The Van Jones Show host made the following remarks on the matter while appearing on CNN with Chris Cuomo tonight:
“You’re never going to be able to convince people that this guy is not qualified. That’s not the point. The point is on issue after issue that is important to the American people, where the majority of American people are on one side, whether it has to do with a woman’s right to choose, whether it has to do with health care, he’s been on the other side. This is a very dangerous moment for the country and for the prestige of the court. I think the President of the United States in a situation like this, when the Republicans stole a seat and gave him one, and now he gets to do the swing vote as well, I think for him to pick someone like this — he’s not the worst, but he’s the best of a horrible list. It’s going to blow up in our faces going forward.”
Earlier in the segment, Jones noted that if Kavanaugh is confirmed, he gives conservatives a 5-4 majority on the Supreme Court, which could result in Americans viewing the bench as a politicized “kangaroo court.”
“They’re not wearing referee’s Jerseys, they’re wearing the other team’s Jerseys, people stop trusting the rule of law,” Jones said.
