‘F*ck You, James Comey’: Showtime Drops Extremely Odd Trailer Promoting Its New Miniseries on Former FBI Director
Ahead of the premiere of “The Comey Rule” — a two-night miniseries based on former FBI Director James Comey’s memoir — Showtime has released an extremely odd trailer as part of its promotional effort.
On Monday, the network released video of a solitary singer absolutely torching Comey in song.
“Fuck you, James Comey, I’ve got nothing else to say,” the singer — Jonathan Mann — crooned. “I’ve got a bad head cold, that just won’t go away. So fuck you, James Comey. Just seriously, fuck you. Fuck you and your cohorts. I’m so tired of you dudes.”
The clip was a 30-second snippet of a song Mann released in 2016 whose title can be easily ascertained after reading the lyrics in the preceding paragraph.
The miniseries itself figures to be far more kind to Comey — given that it his based on his book “A Higher Loyalty.” Jeff Daniels stars as the former FBI director, with Brenden Gleeson co-starring as President Donald Trump. Holly Hunter (who portrays former acting Attorney General Sally Yates and Michael Kelly (who plays former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe) also headline the cast. The miniseries is slated to air on Sept. 27 and 28.
