Fox Hosts Praise John Fetterman’s ‘Smart’ Remarks About Indicted Senator: ‘We’re Complimenting a Democrat’
The co-hosts of Fox News’ The Five praised Sen. John Fetterman’s (D-PA) “coherent, smart” remarks about the expulsion of Rep. George Santos (R-NY) on Friday.
The senator suffered a stroke while campaigning last year, but managed to prevail anyway.
After the House of Representatives voted to expel Santos by 311-114 – making him the first Representative in history to be expelled who wasn’t convicted of a crime or charged with supporting the Confederacy – Fetterman criticized the decision on ABC’s The View and argued that Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) would also have to be expelled.
“I think the more important picture is, is that we have a colleague in the Senate that actually does much more sinister and serious kinds of things,” said Fetterman in reference to charges which allege Menendez took bribes from the state of Egypt:
Senator Menendez, he needs to go. And if you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate? And, you know, Santos’ kind of, lies were almost, you know, funny. And like, you know, he, you know, landed on the moon and that kind of stuff. Whereas, you know, I think, you know, Menendez, I think is really a senator for Egypt. You know, not New Jersey. So I really think he needs to go.
Reacting to Fetterman’s remarks on The Five, co-host Jeanine Pirro said, “I gotta tell you, at least Fetterman’s putting some sentences together. That’s a good thing.”
Pirro’s colleague Will Cain weighed in, saying, “The whole body double thing might have happened. That was a coherent, smart answer from John Fetterman,” to which Pirro replied, “We agree.”
“That man’s a Harvard-educated Senator,” protested co-host Harold Ford Jr., visibly irked by the mockery.
Cain replied, “Hey, for real, it sounds like he’s getting better and good for him.”
“We’re complimenting a Democrat, ok? When’s the last time you complimented a Republican?” questioned Pirro, to which Ford answered, “In the last segment!”
