Giuliani Rips Gowdy, Nunes For Breaking With Trump on Spygate: ‘I Got More Experience Than Them…Times Ten’

Chris Cuomo and Rudy Giuliani had a jam-packed battle of words tonight when they sparred over President Donald Trump‘s ‘Spygate’ claims.

Cuomo started things off by asking Giuliani about his recent remarks that Trump is so untouchable that the president could shoot former FBI director James Comey and not get indicted. This was part of a broader discussion on Giuliani’s statements about how Trump has the power to pardon himself — which the president seized upon earlier today.

Cuomo called out Giuliani for pouring “gasoline on the fire” with his remarks, and the former New York Mayor conceded at one point that it was “probably not the right analogy” to make, even if the Russia investigation on Trump is “totally ridiculous.”

When Giuliani maneuvered the conversation towards Trump’s allegations against the FBI, Cuomo noted that Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) recently poked a huge hole in the notion that the FBI embedded a spy in the president’s campaign. Cuomo also brought up Rep. Devin Nunes (D-CA), who spearheaded inquiries into the alleged spying against the Trump campaign, but didn’t challenge Gowdy’s findings about their meeting together with Department of Justice and FBI officials.

After tangling with Cuomo about Team Trump’s misrepresentation of James Clapper‘s comments, Giuliani continued to bash the FBI for concealing their probe from Trump. Still the conversation stayed gravitated around Gowdy and Nunes, and Giuliani offered no quarter to either of them.

“Gowdy and Nunes are not somebody’s lawyer. I don’t know the last time they practiced criminal law. I like both of them. but they don’t have the responsibility of representing somebody who is being treated in a way you wouldn’t treat a common criminal…I’ve got more experience than the two of them by ten.”

Giuliani and Cuomo continued to fight over Robert Mueller‘s power and authority, as well as Team Trump’s penchant for changing their stories in the face of so many controversies. Of course, Spygate never really went a way as a topic of conversation, and Giuliani hit back at Cuomo after he was reminded that members of the GOP are now distancing themselves from Trump’s claims.

“They’re not my guys,” Giuliani said, and it all went downhill from there, yet again.
