House Republican Erupts at Democratic Colleague Who Interrupted to Correct Him About Trump Conviction: ‘So Rude of You!’

Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) did not take kindly to Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) interrupting him to correct the record about Donald Trump’s criminal conviction.

Last month, a Manhattan jury found the former president guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

Not surprisingly, Democrats have responded by reminding people that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is a convicted felon. The former president is also under criminal indictment in three other cases.

During a meeting of the House Rules Committee on Tuesday, Norman took exception:

NORMAN: Listening to these smokescreens that my friends on the other side of the aisle are saying, they bring up the trial of Donald Trump, convicted felon. Really? By a judge that is a known anti-Trumper?

NADLER: A jury, a jury. Not by a judge.

NORMAN: Mr. Nadler, I’ve got the floor! If you gonna interrupt – Mr. Chairman, calm him down when he interrupts. It’s my time and I’ll let you respond, but I’m tired of this. You talk over everybody. It’s so rude of you!

Judge Juan Merchan presided over Trump’s trial and has received criticism from Republicans who pointed to his $35 in political donations to Democrats in 2020, including $15 President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. They also highlighted the fact that his daughter works for a consulting firm with Democratic clients. As Nadler noted, however, a jury of 12 Manhattanites determined Trump committed 34 felonies.

Norman pivoted to Hunter Biden, who on Tuesday was found guilty of federal gun charges. The congressman said it is “strange” that Biden was prosecuted for those infractions, but not his overseas business dealings, which Republicans have long alleged were nefarious and illegal.
