‘I am Not on Trial!’ Fani Willis Rips ‘Confused’ Defense Attorney In Tense Exchange

Fulton Country District Attorney Fani Willis took the stand in her own defense on Thursday and defiantly attacked the defense attorney in the case for lying about her relationship with Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade, who works for her on the case.

Wade and Willis are defending themselves against allegations of having an inappropriate relationship. Specifically, the court is debating whether or not Willis dated Wade before or after she hired him and if their relationship should result in Willis being removed from the case.

Trump co-defendant defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant asked Willis at length about some of her habits while dating Wade.

“During the time period that you were dating. Would your security team ever take you two together anywhere?” Merchant asked for example.

“No, never. If there was a lunch that occurred that I just described, if there was a meal that I. That I just described. Anything outside of that. And it needs to be very clear. Not often. Once. Twice. Because I want to be, over inclusive. I’m saying once or twice. I’m not certain that it happened, but I’d rather be over inclusive with you,” Willis replied.

“So your office objected to us getting Delta records for flights that you may have taken on this journey,” Merchant followed up, referring to a previous question regarding Willis and Wade taking a vacation.

“Well, I object to you getting records. You’ve been intrusive into people’s personal lives,” Willis shot back, adding:

You’re confused. You think I’m on trial. These people are on trial for trying to steal an election in 2020. I’m not on trial! No matter how hard you try to put me on trial.

“So my question was, do you have any,” Merchant tried again as Willis cut in.

“I object to you getting any personal records of mine,” Willis declared.

“We’re not dealing with privilege through a witness,” clarified the judge.
