America was introduced to Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) Thursday night, and was left mostly confused — and maybe a little terrified.

Delivering the opposition party’s response to a president’s State of the Union address is widely viewed as a thankless task, but Britt’s commentary after President Joe Biden concluded his speech had viewers all across the political aisle eviscerating her performance and making jokes about how Saturday Night Live would portray her.

Britt delivered her breathy, emotional remarks from the kitchen table at her Montgomery, Alabama home, frequently punctuating her words with dramatic pauses, hand gestures, and facial expressions that had commentators making unflattering comparisons to high school drama clubs.
