Laura Ingraham Tells JD Vance, ‘You’re Really Funny’ While Asking Him About Unfavorable Polling Data

Fox News host Laura Ingraham told JD Vance that he is “really funny” despite the occasional awkward moment on the campaign trail.

Since former President Donald Trump chose the Ohio senator to be his running mate in July, Vance has had difficulty connecting with many voters. Multiple polls show the senator with a net negative approval rating, making him the first vice presidential nominee with negative favorables in more than four decades.

Democrats have rerun comments Vance made about “childless cat ladies,” which has earned the senator criticism from Republicans as well. The VP hopeful also went viral thanks to a cringeworthy interaction he had with a donut shop worker. Last week, Vance took heat for slamming Vice President Kamala Harris by using a 17-year-old clip of a teen beauty pageant contestant struggling to give a response during a contest.

On Tuesday’s episode of The Ingraham Angle, the host asked Vance about his numbers and complimented his sense of humor.

“I guess they do these polls and say, ‘Oh your favorability isn’t as high as Tim Walz’s is,'” she said. “There’s a gender gap for your ticket compared to Harris and Walz. How do you go to the undecideds at this point – the shrinking pool of people – and convince them no not only are you serious and you’re seriously smart, but you’re a regular person? I’ve known you for a long time. You’re really fun. You’re really funny.”

“Laura, my approach to this is just to get out there and meet as many people as possible,” Vance replied. “And I know this is Donald Trump’s approach, too. We don’t do the scripted stuff. We don’t only speak in front of the teleprompter. We actually like to get out there and give some unscripted remarks, some press conferences, and also just go out there and talk to people. And that’s what I’m gonna keep on doing, Laura. I don’t put much stock in the polls – even the polls that show us ahead.”
