Mysterious Booming Object Falls From Sky, Caught on Security Cameras in NJ: ‘You See a Giant Fireball Come Through the Ceiling’

Police and locals local are scratching their heads after an unidentified object reportedly fell from the sky with a loud boom early Wednesday morning in the city of Magnolia, New Jersey, and has residents talking about UFOs and UAVs after it was caught on security cameras.

At around 2:30 a.m., calls flooded in about a loud boom and a flash of light in the Philadelphia suburb.

Local auto shop S & L Automotive was a locus of activity after owner Sebastian Leonardo found a sizable hole in his roof from an apparent impact, he told Philly’s 6abc WPVI-TV.

Employees at the shop climbed up to check on the damage, which indicated a collision by an object falling from above.

“That’s when I went to all of my cameras and found the video and realized what had actually happened — a flash outside and the impact in here,” Leonardo told the station. “You eventually see a giant fireball come through the ceiling, and everything comes flying down. The roof with it.”

Several doorbell cameras from nearby homes also caught the flash and an accompanying boom. The camera in one of the videos shook after it caught a brief flash of light.

Local residents and even an astronomer who reviewed the footage gave even more harrowing details to ABC:

“There’s a bright flash, there’s a boom, there’s a hole. That’s three out of four things. If we had one more thing, like an item that we could identify as being extra-terrestrial, then we might say it’s something from space,” said Astronomer Derrick Pitts of The Franklin Institute.

Magnolia resident Denise Korejko said it was enough to wake her.

Neighbors were on edge.

“It was really, really loud. The sky, the big bright light, and the big bang, it was big,” said Korejko.

No injuries were reported.

The origin of the object is under investigation as locals continue to flood area news stations with more footage.
