Rep. Darrell Issa Tells Chris Wallace: “We Need To Do Investigations In A Less Partisan Way”
Since the Republicans won control of the House of Representatives this past week, Representative Darrell Issa, who will be the next Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has been making the media rounds. Many have been asking what Issa’s plans will be when he takes charge of Oversight — i.e. does he have any plans to impeach — and what investigations he will focus on driving forward. This morning he discussed his plans with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday:
“What’s the first thing? What’s the big investigation you’re looking to hold?” Wallace asked.
“Well, I’m going to go after a lot of things and I’m going to do a lot of investigating, but I think finishing off the Angelo Mozilo, Friends of Angelo Program where it created the financial meltdown in no small part because Fannie and Freddie took huge amounts of bad loans and are continuing to have losses…I think we have to bring that to a successful conclusion and make sure that doesn’t happen again.”
He also noted he is more interested in going “down ticket to the bureaucrat” and questioning the person most knowledgeable about a particular problem than going after the President in order to “do investigations in a less partisan way.” Watch the full clip of Issa talking about other investigations below:
