Sharpton: I Disagreed a Lot With George W. Bush, But He Never ‘Got in the Gutter’

On MSNBC this afternoon, Reverend Al Sharpton contrasted George W. Bush with President Trump––two presidents he hasn’t been a fan of.

Bush delivered a speech this week that sounded a lot like denouncing Trumpism without calling Trump out directly. The White House has disputed that characterization.

Sharpton told Nicolle Wallace this afternoon that even though he led many marches against Bush and spoke out against him so many times, “he never got in the gutter with us.”

He admires what Bush said this week, along with what Barack Obama said this week, saying that he may continue to have serious issues with the former, but “he never made it personal.”
