Smirking Tom Homan Calmly Munches on Apple as Protesters Shout Him Down in NYC
President Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan had nothing but a smirk for furious protesters who swarmed him at the New York State Capitol on Wednesday, taking bites from an apple as activists chanted in his face.
Homan, flanked by Republican lawmakers, was in Albany to slam the state’s Democratic leadership for seeking to block his efforts to implement Trump’s mass deportation policies.
In a speech Homan delivered a stark message to Governor Kathy Hochul, threatening to escalate federal immigration enforcement if the state refused to cooperate.
“We’ll double the man force if we have to,” he vowed. “Sanctuary cities are going to get exactly what they don’t want: More ICE agents in your community.”
After speaking, the border czar walked straight into a corridor packed with protesters.
In footage captured by City & State reporter Austin Jefferson the crowd erupts as Homan strolls through, his security detail working to shield him from the barrage of chants and placards.
Throughout, Homan can be seen holding his composure, smiling and chewing on an apple as the chaos unfolded around him.
Although not captured in the footage, the spectacle escalated when New York State Assembly Member and NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani confronted Homan, attempting to push past police while shouting accusations: “How many more New Yorkers will you detain? How many more New Yorkers without charge? Do you believe in the First Amendment, Tom Homan?”
