Stormy Daniels Lawyer on Trump Throwing Michael Cohen ‘Under the Bus’: ‘He Finally Cracked’
The lawyer for the porn star alleging an affair with the president said he’d been waiting for him to crack, and he finally did.
Michael Avenatti called it a “glorious afternoon” when President Donald Trump claimed to be totally unaware of the payout given by his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to porn star Stormy Daniels for her silence on the alleged relationship.
Speaking to MSNBC’s Ari Melber, Avenatti said Trump has “effectively thrown Michael Cohen under the bus, by making these statements on Air Force One. But this is an undisciplined guy, he finally cracked. We knew he would crack eventually. We have been patient, I’ve been waiting and who would have thought that it would have arrived on this Thursday, this glorious afternoon in New York.”
Trump made the bombshell admission on Air Force One, telling a reporter she’d have to ask Cohen about Daniels’ $130,000 non-disclosure payment since the president apparently didn’t know about it.
“He went off on his own, half-cocked and that old saying what a tangled web we weave,” Avenatti told Melber.
Avenatti also said he heard Trump declined to discuss the matter further.
“I think it’s interesting that he denied subsequent questions,” Avenatti said. “I don’t know if you have that, but my understanding is that he denied a couple subsequent questions as to whether he set up a fund from which this payment would be made or reimbursed. I find that quite interesting and I find that certainly a topic that we’re going to explore.”
