Turmoil In Greece: Greek Politician Punches Female In The Face On Live TV

As Greece continues to plummet further into economic turmoil and political upheaval, it only makes sense that their cable news programming would reflect such tension, with the rigorous debates and contentious name-calling. Oh, and fist-throwing.

Yes, fist-throwing. (And water-throwing, too.)

Taking a page out of the South Korean Parliament playbook, Thursday morning several Greek politicians got into a physical altercation, live in-studio, while appearing on the Greek network ANT1-TV’s morning show.

During a roundtable debate about Greece’s future, Golden Dawn (Greek’s far-right nationalist party) elected MP Ilias Kasidiaris exchanged words with Communist Party elected MP Liana Kanelli, calling her an “old communist” (no, really?). In return, Kanelli called Kasidiaris the Greek term for “Nazi-collaborator” and a “fascist.”

Elected MP Rena Dourou, of Greek’s Coalition of the Radical Left (a party that includes “Maoists” — are all Greek parties so openly extreme?!), intervened and insulted Kasidiaris by saying that “Your party will take Greece 500 years back.”

Instead of taking the comment in stride and offering a rebuttal to Dourou’s “radical left” perspective, Kasidiaris grabbed the nearest glass of water and emptied it all over Dourou’s speechless face.

Communist Kanelli then jumped out of her seat and told Kasidiaris to “Get out of here, you asshole!” which was promptly met with Kasidiaris’ repeated fist-throwing, punching the woman several times in the face.

Following his communist woman-punching, Kasidiaris reportedly fled the studio and police are in the midst of a manhunt to arrest him for “dangerous physical damage.”
