Prince Harry withdrew his high-profile libel lawsuit against the publisher of the Mail on Sunday, Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL).

This sensational development follows his legal battle over a February 2022 article related to changes in his publicly funded UK security arrangements.

The Duke of Sussex’s bold move to sue ANL was sparked by the article’s claim to unveil discrepancies between his public statements and court document information regarding his willingness to fund police protection for his family in the UK. This accusation hit the headlines, bringing a wave of attention to the royal’s legal affairs.

However, in December, after ANL defended their stance, arguing that the article was merely an “honest opinion” and did not inflict “serious harm” to the Duke’s reputation, the judge dismissed Harry’s attempt to overturn ANL’s argument and ordered him to pay their legal bill of £48,447.

The publisher’s spokesperson confirmed on Friday that the Duke had indeed retracted his case, marking an end to this high-profile legal saga.
