WATCH: House Speaker Accidentally Defers To ‘Prime Minister’ Keir Starmer

In a startling slip of the tongue, Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle inadvertently referred to Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer as the “Prime Minister” during a fiery session of Prime Minister’s Questions.

The gaffe occurred on Wednesday, after the actual Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced new legislation aimed at rectifying the injustice faced by wrongly convicted Post Office branch managers.

Intense debate could be heard around the House as Hoyle, struggling to maintain order, said: “I can’t hear the questions. I don’t want any more interruptions, please, it’s a very important topic.”

Glancing towards Starmer, Hoyle deferred “Mr Prime Minister,” before quickly correcting himself as the opposition leader resumed his speech.

Starmer, ignoring the slip, laid into a scathing critique of Sunak’s strategy, labelling him “Mr. Nobody.” The Speaker, at least, it appears, has already forgotten who Sunak is.
