CNN’s Erin Burnett Pans Trump Over Shutdown Meeting: He Has to Lead, Not Just Say ‘Bye-Bye!’
CNN’s Erin Burnett ripped President Donald Trump tonight over his meeting with Democratic leaders today on the shutdown that ended with POTUS storming out.
After the meeting, Chuck Schumer said he threw a tantrum and left. Trump tweeted “I said bye-bye,” and apparently he was being serious:
"He literally said, 'bye-bye'," per source familiar. https://t.co/rNm6BS1nOR

Democrat aide just now: "He actually said BYE BYE before he left. That's word for word what he said."

Burnett showed Trump’s tweet and said, “The problem is that the person at the center of a negotiation when the outcome is whether his government reopens can’t just say ‘Bye-bye.’ Trump has to lead!”
She showed video of what Trump said in 2013 criticizing former president Barack Obama for not leading more during that shutdown. Burnett added, “According to his own standards, Trump failed today.”
She also said there is a “crisis” going on, but it’s not the one Trump is talking about––it’s about the federal workers worried about not being paid as the shutdown continues.
