Stacey Abrams Refuses to Rule Out a 2020 Run: ‘I Am Not Willing to Declare Anything Tonight’

Democratic rising star Stacey Abrams declined to make an announcement on Stephen Colbert‘s show about her running for president.

But she didn’t exactly rule it out either.

“So it seems like– it seems like at times that every Democrat is– is announcing that they’re going to run for president or about to announce or thinking about, thinking about announcing they’re running for president,” Colbert said to Abrams on Wednesday. “Would you– would you like to announce that you’re not running for president? Is there any– is there any news you would like to make this evening?”

“There is absolutely no news I would like to make this evening,” Abrams replied.

“Really?” Colbert pressed. “That in and of itself is news because you’re not willing to declare that you’re not running right now.”

Abrams did not budge.

“I am not willing to declare anything tonight,” she repeated.
