Knife Attack at Modern Art Exhibit Confused For Performance Art

 

shutterstock_324089420A woman was stabbed during an altercation at Miami Beach’s Art Basel show Saturday, in what witnesses initially thought was an act of performance art.

According to The Miami Herald, the two women were arguing in front of an exhibit when one of the women pulled out an X-Acto knife and stabbed the other in the arms and neck. “Some patrons thought the stabbing was a performance art presentation,” the paper reports. “Others believed the police tape cordoning off an area of the convention center was part of an art installation.”

“People didn’t really know what had happened,” a witness told the Herald. “It was calm and everyone was milling around and talking.”

The perpetrator was led away by police. The victim of the attack suffered no life-threatening injuries and is expected to live.
