Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones Arrested For Head-Butting Cop, Adds to His Career of Conduct Troubles

At this point, Adam “Pacman” Jones is better known for his off-the-field controversies then for his football success. Sure, the cornerback — who has played with the Cincinnati Bengals since 2010 — earned himself a Pro Bowl nod last season, but his ongoing legal troubles have been brought to the forefront once again.

Jones was arrested early this morning after he allegedly pushed a hotel security guard, and that’s just the beginning; the 33-year-old West Virginia product also allegedly head-butted a police officer while he was being arrested and spit on a nurse.

He was arrested in downtown Cincinnati on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and assault. He also resisted arrest according to court documents, “kicking and head-butting an officer as he was being cuffed,” according to the New York Post.

Jones’ bond is set at $37,500 by a judge; Jones “vehemently denies” the accusations according to his lawyer. Prosecutors allege that Jones was at the Millennium Hotel “beating on different hotel room doors.” That’s when hotel security came to investigate, and Jones allegedly pushed and poked one of the security guards in the eye.

After resisting arrest (which included the head butt in question), Jones then — prosecutors say — spit on a jail nurse at the Hamilton Country Jail.

The Cincinnati Bengals finished their season on Sunday after finishing a disappointing 6-9-1, missing the AFC Playoffs and finishing third in their division.

2013-09-23 CIN Adam Jones CB Arrested (Disorderly conduct) He was the passenger in a car pulled over for speeding and was cited for disorderly conduct. The driver was charged with drunk driving. Paid $130 for fine and court costs.

2013-06-10 CIN Adam Jones CB Arrested (Assault) Accused of punching a woman outside a Cincinnati bar on June 5. It is his eighth run-in with the law since 2005. Resolution undetermined.

2011-07-10 CIN Adam Jones CB Arrested (Alcohol) Accused of disorderly conduct while intoxicated and resisting arrest at bar in Cincinnati. Resolution undetermined.

2007-06-21 TEN Adam Jones CB Charged (Coercion, gun) Surrendered in Las Vegas, charged with felony coercion in connection to strip club shooting that paralyzed a man. Pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit disorderly conduct, agreed to testify against gunman.

2006-10-26 TEN Adam Jones CB Cited (Assault) Accused of spitting in a woman’s face at Nashville nightclub. Charge dropped because of inconsistent testimony.

2006-08-25 TEN Adam Jones CB Arrested (Public intoxication) Accused of being drunk, shouting profanities and arguing with a woman outside club in Tennessee. Charges dropped on the condition he stays out trouble for six months.

2006-03-23 TEN Adam Jones CB Charged (Drugs) Accused of smoking marijuana after he emerged from Corvette reeking of marijuana. Officers were serving a warrant on his home in Georgia. Charge dropped.

2006-02-06 TEN Adam Jones CB Arrested (Drugs) Accused of throwing a punch at an officer and marijuana possession in Fayetteville, Ga. He had been in his parked Bentley. Pleaded no contest to obstructing police, three years of probation, $500 fine.

2005-07-13 TEN Adam Jones CB Surrendered (Assault) Accused of assault and vandalism after being asked to leave club in Nashville. Charges dropped after nightclub manager said he didn’t want to pursue it.

Jones has also been fined a number of times by the NFL for his on-the-field aggression, including after a playoff game last season. Jones bumped an official and was fined $28,940 as a result, just months after being fined $35,000 for slamming an opponent’s head into his helmet. Jones said at the time, “It’s way too much [money]. $35,000 is a lot of money for a guy out playing football. But it is what it is.”
