Beck on Border Visit: ‘We Will Lose’ if We Sound Like ‘Hateful People’
Glenn Beck is going to the U.S.-Mexican border to provide help (food, water, etc.) to undocumented children, and as a result he’s received violent emails and so called this effort something that could be seriously “deadly” to his career. On his radio show Wednesday morning, Beck emphasized the importance of this trip, saying that apart from being just a decent human being, “The way we will lose is by appearing to be something that we’re not, by appearing to be hateful people that don’t care about children. That’s how we lose.”
He insisted no one listens to a “hatemonger” and so compassion is what’s needed. And to anyone questioning his position on illegal immigration, Beck pointed out that the Republicans working with him are hardly pro-amnesty.
Beck took some shots at the left, asking where the Huffington Post and MSNBC pundits are with trucks of food and supplies for these poor people they talk about so much. He said the left sees the issue with simple mercy, while the right believes only judgment is needed, but Beck emphasized the need for both so there is both rule of law and a sense of human compassion at play.
