BREAKING: Obama Issues Executive Order to Lift Iran Sanctions
President Obama has issued an executive order late this afternoon lifting sanctions against Iran’s nuclear program.
Today is implementation day of the Iran nuclear deal, and the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said today that Iran has complied with the terms of the deal, and so the actual implementation of the deal can proceed.
In his executive order today, Obama noted a “fundamental shift in circumstances with respect to Iran’s nuclear program,” and so after the IAEA made its judgment, the president lifted various nuclear-related sanctions against Iran.
It is expected that Obama will speak in the White House later today to address the Iran deal and the release of four imprisoned Americans.
