Chuck Schumer Issues Stern Senate Floor Warning to Trump: ‘Don’t Even Think About’ Firing Mueller

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) pushed back on Donald Trump on Tuesday, after the president flirted with the possibility of firing Robert Mueller over the FBI’s raid on Michael Cohen.
Schumer appeared on the Senate floor to deliver his response after Trump slammed the raid as an “attack on our country” and a partisan conspiracy against him. Schumer noted that Robert Mueller and many other federal officials involved in yesterday’s raid are Republicans, and he also pushed back on Trump’s characterization of the investigation by invoking Cohen’s potential violations of campaign finance law.
“An investigation of your personal attorney is not an attack on our country,” Schumer said. “When Russia interfered with our elections, that was an attack on our country.”
Schumer also refuted the notion of a Mueller “witch hunt” by listing the various findings the special counsel has uncovered throughout the investigation so far. The New York Senator then offered a stern warning to the president.
