David Axelrod Cancels Bill Maher Appearance
Barack Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod has “bailed” on HBO’s Bill Maher, reports Politico, citing Obama campaign press secretary Ben LaBolt‘s confirmation that Axelrod is “not scheduled to go on at this time.”
Axelrod faced scrutiny for his decision to appear on the comedian’s show — particularly from Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, long a critic of Maher’s history of misogynistic jokes — in light of the campaign adviser’s comments about radio host Rush Limbaugh‘s rant against Georgetown student Sandra Fluke.

You may recall that Axelrod had blasted GOP candidate Mitt Romney for not having immediately denounced Limbaugh’s comments, saying that ”If you don’t have the strength to stand up to the most strident voices in your party, how are you going to stand up to (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad?”
Maher had recently donated one million dollars to a pro-Obama Super PAC, a move which has drawn criticism from various different voices in the media.
