Lanny Davis Thinks GOP Should Do with Benghazi Like LeBron Did with Cleveland

What do the upcoming House Republican-led hearings on the 2012 Benghazi attack have to do with LeBron James and his move from the Miami Heat to the Cleveland Cavaliers?

Nothing, but Fox News contributor and PR consultant Lanny Davis did his best to make that parallel happen in a column for The Hill.

Wrote Davis:

The first and most important [lesson the GOP can learn from LeBron] is to admit a mistake yourself — and take responsibility.

In 2010, it will be recalled, James decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers and go to the Miami Heat in search of an NBA championship. His big problem was not that decision but how he made his announcement — on a nationally televised ESPN special called “The Decision” — with media hype and boastful statements about himself.

Last Friday, James admitted his mistakes to Sports Illustrated reporter Lee Jenkins …

Well done, LeBron.

So what can Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy, the chairman of the Benghazi special committee, learn from LeBron?

Simple: admit past GOP errors about Benghazi and take responsibility.

Davis went on to say that the hearings should essentially be used for Republicans to take back every allegation ever made against the Obama administration about the Benghazi incident.

The odds of that happening are expectedly slim.

As Bloomberg reporter Drew Armstrong put it when he tweeted a link to Davis’s column: “I, what, Jesus, I can’t even…”
