Mexico Spox: President Mentioned the Wall to Trump, But There Was ‘No Discussion’

Okay. We have somehow entered a dimension in which Donald Trump can claim there was no discussion of paying for the border wall and the President of Mexico can say they did talk about it and THEY CAN BOTH BE RIGHT.

Huh?

Trump was specifically asked in Mexico today if he and President Enrique Peña Nieto talked about who’s gonna pay for the border wall. He said they didn’t.

THEN Peña Nieto said they actually did talk about it.

So obviously someone’s lying here, right?

Well, um, a spokesperson for Peña Nieto told The Wall Street Journal‘s David Luhnow that somehow neither one is lying:

Got it? Peña Nieto said that they wouldn’t pay for the wall… but since Trump said there was no “discussion” per se, he wasn’t lying either.

I mean, it still sounds like Trump deliberately brushed aside the fact that Peña Nieto smacked that idea down right away, so at best it was misleading.

(P.S. This could all end up being null and void following the next round of clarification anyway.)
