No Charges for Gov’t Employee Who Crashed Drone on White House Lawn

The U.S. attorney’s office in D.C. announced Wednesday afternoon that no charges would be filed against the government employee who drunkenly crashed a small drone onto the White House lawn:

The drone was found by Secret Service at 3 a.m. one night in January, causing a brief panic. A still-unidentified man confessed to ownership of the drone and admitted to drunkenly piloting it around the White House; he said he didn’t know where it had crashed until he saw news reports about the drone found at the White House. The man is an employee for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

Per CNN, “a forensic analysis showed that the drone was not under control of its operator when it went down,” meaning they buy the man’s story that it was an accident.
