Murdochs Reportedly Leaning Towards Dumping Bill O’Reilly

When Bill O’Reilly left the air for vacation on April 11, New York Magazine’s Gabriel Sherman reported that James Murdoch, son of Rupert Murdoch, was advocating for his ouster from Fox News.
Now, according to Sherman, both Murdoch sons have turned against O’Reilly. New York reports that with protests ongoing outside Fox News headquarters in Manhattan, the younger Murdoch family is leaning towards dumping the highly-rated Fox News host.
According to Sherman, Lachlan Murdoch, another of Rupert’s sons, was previously in favor of keeping O’Reilly, along with his father, but had recently changed his position and is now aligned with his brother. Rupert has remained hesitant to make the move, but according to Sherman, the family is “now leaning toward announcing that O’Reilly will not return to the air.”
Back on April 11, a Fox News spokesperson told Mediaite that O’Reilly would return to his show on April 24. With that date looming, a decision one way or the other is rapidly approaching.
Mediaite has reached out to Fox News for comment on the new report and will update this post when they respond.
