Rachel Maddow: $14 Million Is What It Takes To Turn Sharron Angle From ‘Wack’ To Viable

video

According to Rachel Maddow we are in a political season where the kookiness of political candidates and political money are inextricably linked (though, aren’t they always to some extent?). Says Maddow: “You cannot understand the kookiness of this year’s candidates without understanding how cash is working in this year’s elections.”

To that end Maddow has constructed a ‘not a scientific graph of kookiness and electoral viability’ which apparently bears a striking resemblance to the Hot/Crazy scale on the show ‘How I Met Your Mother.’ Point being the kookiness factor of a candidate can be outweighed by how much money they have raised for their campaign. Exhibit A: Sharron Angle, who has raised $14 million, which compensates for a lot of kookiness. Moreover, if Angle can figure out how to continue to raise vast sums of money her kookiness could go on forever and one day possibly include the existence of stomach eating aliens. Watch below.

So, you’re fine with Chinese money financing US elections, as long as the beneficiaries are Republicans. Situational Ethics, thy name is Marceaux, I mean Blower.

I’ve heard a couple of reports that question whether Obtuse angle actually raised this much money, but cable “news” hasn’t seemed to pick up on this. If it were true, FOX “News”, of course, would not report it, but I wonder if there is anything to this?

  • notsofast

Why is this man so angry all the time?

Nancy Pelosi, Al Franken, Maxine Waters, Bernie Sanders, Alan Grayson, Roland Burris, Chuck Schumer, Dennis Kucinich…….

Rachel, is there not already enough proof available that kooky people do have electoral viability?

And $750 million is all it take to get some little community organizer from Chicago politics elected President.

Obama’$ old campaign website accepted donations from foreign countries all the time. But you know how they vetted the donors in order to insure they were able to donate legally? Oh…yeah…. they had to do was click a little box.

But to be fair, Mr. Obama isn’t the first or last politician to take foreign contributions. Repugnantcans and Dumbocrats do it all the time.

You have a point there, although I wouldn’t include Pelosi, Franken and Schumer in the group.

A shame I guess that the Libertarians never put up real opposition at the polls. You always have someone like Melinda Maria Mongoose or Ian Reginald Pantyshield running.

I’ve heard that Franken is intelligent when he’s sober. Too bad we’ll never see it.

“Says Maddow: You cannot understand the kookiness of this year’s candidates without understanding how cash is working in this year’s elections”

Only a short time ago Rachel was gloating over the “kookiness” of Sharron Angle. Of course, then she was writing Ms. Angle off as having no chance to win against the moderate, highly intelligent, vastly superior Harry Reid.

What a difference a campaign makes. As different as living in New York City as opposed to living in Nevada.

    RCP Average: Angle +0.6
    RCP Ranking: Toss Up

Pelosi is a ding dong. I am pretty familiar with her history, back to when she was basically handed her seat in congress. If I was to write a book entitled “The Daffiness of Nancy Pelosi”, it would have to be a 4 volume set. Franken has disrespected the office of Senate and fellow members more than once in his short tenure. Making goofy faces in Senate confirmation hearings alone qualifies him. Schumer is an ass, the recent incident on the flight where he mumbled “stupid bitch, doesn’t she know who I am” about the flight attendant because she asked him to turn his cell phone off, loudly enough for others to hear. But yeah, he’s more of an asshole than a kook, so I guess he might not belong. Al and Nancy stay, though, they are clearly kooky enough to be in the group.

  • Harry Flashman

More smug snark disguised as political analysis from another classless liberal pundit. Oh, and the point about Al Franken is well taken. Did Maddow miss the fact that he’s a raving whack-job? Compared to him Angle is the epitome of mental stability.

No, she didn’t miss it. She ses it, but then turns her head and cries “Look! Over there! George Bush!”

This broad is one sad little dame . Who can watch this show ? Big Eddie feels sorry for the cameraman .

It’s always interesting to see a show host rail against money in politics when money and politics are hand in hand in every single campaign and candidate as well as those now in office.People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Every candidate is transformed by money into viable. And 14 mil is peanuts compared to some, like the Presidential…..

By the way….this is another clear example of how the left uses Alinsky tactics at every opportunity. Isolate, personally insult, demean, destroy.

Issues? We don’t need no steenking issues.

Put Maddow or Maher in a forum where they have to debate the issues without resorting to ending each argument with “Fuck you” (in Maddow’s case figuratively, in Maher’s case literally) and they would quickly be shown for the fools they are.

No, you constantly kvetch about the two parties, yet you never come up with a viable alternate. The Libertarian Kook Kandidates are the precursors of the Tea Party Kook Kandidates. If your ideology is as wonderful as you claim, why can’t you put forth legitimate candidates? It’s a fair question.

In the home stretch of the 2010 campaign, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, more than even President Barack Obama, is emerging as the heaviest drag on Democratic hopes of holding on to the House.

In district after district, from Florida’s Gold Coast to central Ohio, in the Ozark Mountains, on the Minnesota prairie and in retiree-laden Arizona, Pelosi’s face, plastered on billboards, recorded in video clips and emblazoned on mailers, is casting a pall over her colleagues’ chances of winning reelection…

Don’t forget, Rachel is a part of the PROFESSIONAL LEFT.

She makes her living attacking Republicans or Tea Party or conservatives. Her mission in life is to prosper, and this is the only way she knows to accomplish that.

For a short while, I thought she would be refreshing. That lasted about 2 weeks. Think about how Rachel would make a living if/when MSNBC decides she is liability?

I know this might be hard for you but there is NO evidence of any Chinese money being used by the republicans. What part of “NO EVIDENCE” don’t you understand.

Oh, There is evidence that Chinese money was used by democrats.
    Here is just one example.

OBAMA GOT MONEY FROM CHINA IN 2008

    By Woodrow Wilcox

Obama and his allies have suggested that some of the money spent on campaign ads by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce might be coming from foreign sources.

But, in 2008, Obama’s campaign was getting some money from sources inside China .

A video report about “An ACORN China Obama Connection” is on YOUTUBE (www.youtube.com, search “an acorn china obama connection”). Here is a direct link to the video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBNCpE5-2lU

Cy Huerter, a retired U.S. Naval Officer from northwest Indiana was interviewed in the video clip. In the video clip, Cy Huerter explains how an American business owner from China traveled to the U.S. to pass out “VOTE FOR OBAMA” tickets at an election polling site in Gary , Indiana .

The American business owner from China is identified in the video by display of the business card that he gave to Cy Huerter. The business owner said that he was an attorney who used to work for A.C.O.R.N., the group that supported Obama and with which Obama worked in the past.

“If a businessman makes money in China and then comes to the U.S. to campaign for Obama, you know he is bringing money with him from China even if it is just for his living and travel expenses while here in the U.S. ,” Huerter stated. “Using his China based credit cards and China based bank account, he could have easily brought more money from China to the U.S. to help the Obama campaign. If his business does deals with the government in China , then the ultimate source of the funds is the Chinese government. How many other foreign government connected people were helping Obama?” Huerter asked.

I’m not a registered Libertarian – I’m independent. I’m a free and open minded individual that does not goose-step to the party mentality. While you might think in terms of party affiliation, I think in terms of a free and private individual. It is the party system that continues to fragment and destroy our political system. You partisans view life, at least it appears, in terms of parties. I complain about both parties because neither is much different. It’s been a team effort, bi-partisan if you will, getting us to were we are at in terms of debt, wars, intrusion on individual liberty, and bailouts to corporations and unions.

OK…upfront…I think anyone involved in politics is crazy….that being said…

What seems to be escaping some TV people is this….the American people are furious. They are furious because they believe nobody is listening.
For commentators on both sides to continually badmouth/name call candidates who step up….is insulting. It sounds “elitist”…I hate that word….but still….

Notice: Just because somebody is not on your particular side politically, doesn’t make them crazy. This political season sure gives one pause…before even considering getting involved with the piranha in Washington DC…and in the media.

Maddow and much of MSNBC are trying hard in these late few days to do whatever is needed by the Democrat party to try and sway voters. Unforturnately, it is because of the “Unique” personalities on MSNBC that so many American dislike them and the Democrat party. Not that the Republican are much better, but better they are.Maddow her ilk on the 5-10PM stretch are becoming more and more irrelevant.

  • felixw

Typical Rachel Maddow. If Sharron Angle had not been successful in raising money, Maddow would have used that as a pretext for ridiculing her. If Sharron Angle is successful in raising money…Maddow uses that as a pretext for ridiculing her. Who can take this bitter lady seriously, when everything she does is another predictable character attack, with the same smarmy, scornful tone no matter what the circumstances. MSNBC has truly become brain dead.

  • Dandee

Well, well, does anyone on here know how much money it would take to make, this poor excuse for a journalist, into to a logical human being with a brain to match?

  • TeaPartyPatriot

To the lamestream socialist fake-news media: Please, please, please keep up the vicious, mean-spirited, false, mis-leading and totally biased slime attacks on Christine O’Donnell. Sarah Palin, who got the same hysterical, foaming-at-the-mouth treatment from the lunatic-left, is now indisputably the MOST POWERFUL, MOST INFLUENTIAL, MOST EFFECTIVE woman politician in America today (special thanks to the Trifecta of Scum, aka the official “You Lie!” hussein cheerleading squad, nbc, snl and tina fey). Similarly, O’Donnell will significantly BENEFIT from your unethical, nauseating, gutter actions, since the American people recognize just what you are. I hope O’Donnell invites you all to her swearing-in ceremony as the next Senator from Delaware so you can get a close-up view of your latest “success”.

Looks like Ms.Madd-cow has a “hard to talk about” issue, with real issues. Like Obimbos, bail-outs, health-care bill, Cap & Trade, reprehensibly high unemployment, and of course an economic recovery going at the speed of a snail! Instead, she’d rather talk about anything other!! Wonder when she’s going to talk about the nail-polish female Republican candidates where! The wrong color could mean something dire?!!

  • Sunnyr

Poor old Ray Madcow got his clock cleaned by Dr. Art Robinson, A Scientist who is running to replace the Socialist nutwad, DeFazio, in Oregon. Madcow’s ego must still be in the toilet.

ANOTHER donation coming your way, Dr. Robinson!

This is the scariest group of folks who post to this site, hate Rachel Maddow, and are in constant denial about the messages she brings about what’s going on out there. She is smart, does her homework (no one has caught her unprepared with facts and figures), and exposes the kind of craziness in this year’s politics. You must know that Sharon Angle is totally unsuitable to represent the state of Nevada in the Senate; in fact, to represent just about anything and anybody in an elected body. So what do you guys do? blame the messenger, calling her all kinds of names, and shutting your ears to truthfulness and fairness, having already labeled her a ‘liberal’ (that dirty word) — liberal as opposed to what? Machine gun parties with Rand Paul (did any of you see that terrifying video of thousands of machine guns blasting away at night at targets that catch fire); I am not a witch, I didnt go to Yale, I think masturbation is adultery for O’Donnell? You folks just can’t be serious about your susceptibility to irresponsible demagoguery. and oh yes, do read Sean Wilentz in this New Yorker and Glenn Beck’s reading; and start to shiver.

  • writer

Rachel could really up her credibility if she’d stop giggling at Olbermann’s demagoguery.

  • HostileLogic

Progressives are out of their minds with fear and confusion. Come November this condition will turn to wailing and a gnashing of teeth.

God decided to make the perfect brainless invertebrate. First he created jellyfish. That was practice. Then he created Obama progressives and perfection was achieved.

    Yes.

Liberals aren’t interested in making things better – whcih requires seeking the truth. Their goal is always to tear down all forms of success and to elevate failure.
