Remember How Trump Denied NYT Report Last Week That He Was Getting ‘Another Lawyer to Help Out’?

Earlier today, Trump attorney Jay Sekulow confirmed reports that lawyer Joesph diGenova was joining the legal team that President Donald Trump has gathered to deal with the Russia probe. A former US attorney for the District of Columbia, diGenova has been on Fox News in recent months to push theories that the FBI and DOJ were attempting to frame Trump of false crimes while crafting a “brazen plot to illegally exonerate Hillary Clinton.”

Interestingly, this addition to the Trump legal team comes just days after the president lashed out at the New York Times for reporting that he was in discussions with another Washington lawyer, Emmet T. Flood, to represent him. Flood is most known for being President Bill Clinton’s attorney during Clinton’s impeachment proceedings.

As you can see in the tweets above sent on March 11th, the president claimed that the Times “purposely wrote a false story” that he was dissatisfied with his legal team and was “going to add another lawyer to help out.” Trump added that he was “VERY happy” with his lawyers while noting that Times reporter Maggie Haberman is a “Hillary flunky” who hasn’t been “given access.” Haberman, meanwhile, stood by her story and noted other outlets had confirmed the story about Trump speaking with Flood.

And who was the one who first reported that Trump’s legal team was bringing on diGenova, something that was soon confirmed by Sekulow? None other than Haberman. Because of course.
