Rahami, an Afghan-born American citizen living in Elizabeth, NJ is the prime suspect in Saturday’s bombing in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan that left 29 people injured. Last night, five explosives were found inside a garbage directly adjacent to the Elizabeth train station, one of the primary thoroughfares on the highly-traveled Northeast Corridor connecting New York City and Trenton, and it was announced this morning that Rahami was the suspect in those events as well. There were no injuries reported in Elizabeth, as a law enforcement bomb robot detonated one of the explosives in the early morning hours of Monday.
The FBI was searching the Rahami family home on Elmore Avenue this morning which sits directly above the First American Fried Chicken restaurant that the family owned and operated.
This story is breaking and we will update as news becomes available.
